Generations at Sea

Mark, the owner, is a Master Mariner and Chief Engineer Officer, the only person in Ireland to hold this dual qualification. He has been navigating the waters around Howth for most of his life, first handling boats to Ireland’s Eye at just nine years of age.

In 2023, the company celebrated 20 years in business. What began with our popular Ireland’s Eye Tour has grown to include three cruise experiences, including the original Ireland’s Eye Ferry and the much loved Sunset Cruise.

Our Story

Ireland’s Eye Ferry

We are a small family run business with a long history on the waters of Howth. Our story began in 1947 when Mark’s grandfather started the very first ferry service landing on Ireland’s Eye.

In those days there was no advertising, no online booking and very little promotion. Visitors simply arrived at the harbour and the business grew through word of mouth and the trust of generations of passengers. The ferry service was passed down through the family and in 2002 Mark took over the business from his father.

Continuing this tradition has always been important to us. Today we are proud to be the only operator still providing the original ferry service that lands on Ireland’s Eye.

Alongside the ferry, we now offer a range of cruises showcasing the beauty of the Howth coastline. These include the Ireland’s Eye and Howth Coast Tour, the Howth Cliffs and Lighthouse Cruise and the popular Howth Sunset Cruise. Each experience offers a different perspective of the coastline, from dramatic sea cliffs and marine wildlife to the peaceful atmosphere of an evening cruise on Dublin Bay.
